I'm in Many Apples (Anthony's epithet for Minneapolis). Last night, some coworkers and I had dinner at 112 Eatery in the Warehouse District.
Someone ordered an appetizer that consisted of olives served alongside candied nuts. The olives had a subtle taste of anise. Intriguing combination. I couldn't tell what the source of it was. Fennel? Might be interesting to experiment with a hint of sambuca or other anise-y ingredient.
